A Dramatic Transformation in Lancaster, Using Luxury Wallcoverings

A stylish foyer sets the tone of a home. And when Karen Frank and Kristen Dommel of Studio K and Company first saw this home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, they knew a magnificent entryway would raise the bar. Phillip Jeffries Flight wallcovering in Deep Emerald sets the stage.

When a young family purchased an older home with great bones, they were keen to give the traditional style a fresh update. The homeowners knew they wanted wallpaper in the foyer, but they also knew they did not want a typical print. They were looking for something spectacular!

Before-1Before-2

"When Flight was introduced, we knew it would be perfect," says Karen. "We loved the juxtaposition of this whimsical yet elegant wallcovering against the traditional and steely staircase. The client loved it immediately! She told us she loved birds and this was perfect."

"We LOVE PJ," says Karen. "It's our go-to for wallcoverings. We also used two other wallcoverings in this house as well. Customer service helped walk us through the special order process, and installation went very well."

More about Flight
Phillip Jeffries Flight 7056 wallcovering features majestic embroidered cranes that soar from clouds to the walls. As part of the Gallery Binder, this collection is digitally printed and available in a multitude of colorways. Flight is also completely customizable with our PJ Mash Up program. Choose a custom color or move the birds to fit your space. The background, Clouds, is also available as a complement or on its own. The sky really is the limit!

The Design Process
"Flight was chosen first," says Karen. "We also took the pop of pink from the bird's beak and used that as an accent carried through the home. The client's office is right off of the top of the staircase and we covered her office in a pink PJ grasscloth."

A Fresh Style
Updating an old home can sometimes present challenges, but this home was a seamless update. "Elegant, sophisticated, fresh, irreverent," are just a few of the words the designers used to describe this home.

"Our favorite element was the staircase and the traditional elements such as the front door, crown moldings and the beautiful brass door knob," says Karen. "We painted the foyer a bright white to bring out these details."

"This home is gorgeous and is one of our favorites," says Karen. "We love that the homeowners took a risk and trusted the vision."
