A design that was in development for almost two years is now the winner of an IIDA HD Expo Product Design Award in Applied Finishes and Materials and a Silver for Neocon’s ‘Best of’Award. Kintsugi is the Japanese art form of putting broken pottery pieces back together using gold as the glue and is a technique aptly called "golden seams" or "golden repair." Kintsugi masters use a precious metal – liquid gold, liquid silver or even lacquer dusted with powdered gold to create a stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Since every break is unique, Kintsugi highlights the "scars" as a part of the design and some even embrace this as a metaphor in life to embrace flaws and imperfections.

The Art of Handcrafted Wallcovering
In the spirit of mending broken pottery, skilled artisans work in teams for hours on each panel. In the span of a week, they meticulously place more than 600 metallic leaves in an organic, linear design on pieces of authentic wood veneer. Then the expansive 6-panel design is pressed and laminated to perfection.
