This stunning 5-story West Village townhouse, designed by Francis Interiors, was transformed from a historic 1861 home into a modern, "forever home." As featured in Architectural Digest magazine, this home has a layered, maximalist approach to design.

Nestled in the heart of New York's West Village, let's tour of the living room, entryway, primary bedroom, and family room, showcasing how each room is wrapped in a different Phillip Jeffries wallcovering yet harmoniously work together to create a cohesive and elegant design. “I was always very conscious that this could not look like a TV or Broadway set, that it still needed to feel like a home and it still needed to be on the Earth, feet on the ground, despite its flamboyance,” Francis Toumbakaris told Architectural Digest. “And we achieved it.”

Family Room: Velvet Vibes in Garden Stroll Green
The family room is designed to be warm and inviting, tailored to the homeowner's lifestyle. Francis  incorporated Phillip Jeffries Velvet Vibes and a gilded ceiling to create a lusciously moody ambiance. The custom banquette, upholstered in Scalamandré Regale cut velvet fabric, adds a touch of luxury while remaining cozy and comfortable.

Primary Bedroom: The Grove in Regency Navy
On the fourth floor, the primary bedroom suite is a serene sanctuary. The room is a harmonious blend of high-end furnishings and thoughtful design elements. The upholstered bed is paired with nightstands and lamps for a warm glow while the marble fireplace serves as a stunning focal point. The Grove wallcovering is laser cut into a fanciful grove pattern and applied to a gold ground. This bold choice adds a touch of whimsy and nostalgia, perfectly complementing the room's sophisticated aesthetic.

Living Room: Mirage in Sands of Time
The fifth-floor living room is a masterpiece inspired by the interiors of luxury yachts. Francis designed custom millwork and a fireplace mantle that pair beautifully with a sectional. The walls are adorned with Mirage, an ombre mural printed on grasscloth. This mural was installed with the blue on the bottom for a dreamy look that warms up the walls. The Arteriors coffee table and Visual Comfort chandelier complete the opulent look.

A Welcoming Entry: Rivets
The entryway sets the tone for the entire home with its dramatic design. The original staircase, winding upward like a ribbon, is covered in an artisanal Phillip Jeffries collection called Rivets. This design, Studs and Stripes, features a vertical raised rived pinstripe on ivory Manila Hemp. Franics describes this space as a palate cleanser in a five-course meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

The bathroom features another Rivets design, this one is a vertical geometric called It's Riveting in White Gold. These elegant touches welcomes guests with luxury and sophistication.
