Ferguson and Mikita opened the doors to their stunning two-bedrooom, two-and-a-half home featuring Phillip Jeffries Sevilla Weaves wallcovering to Architectural Digest. While the apartment was brand-new, there was still plenty of work to do to infuse their taste. “It was beautifully done, but we came in and added our personality to it,” Mikita tells AD. “We wanted it to feel like a really comfortable hotel that happened to have a kitchen and our clothes already in it,” explains Ferguson.
Gurski added texture in the kitchen, living room, and primary bedroom with Phillip Jeffries Sevilla Weaves. Inspired by authentic handwoven baskets, the natural textured wallcovering features variegated paper yarns woven into a latticework pattern.
Ferguson and Mikita’s home showcases one of the many neutral tones (1793 ALCÁZAR) in the collection, which provides the perfect background for their eye-catching artwork (including the custom portraits of their dogs, Leaf and Sam) and contributes to the apartment’s cozy feel.
SEVILLA WEAVES from left include: 1793 Alcázar, 1787 Antique Greige, 1788 Violeta, and 1789 La Cesta.
The collection is available in a range of 10 soft and sophisticated colorways. All our paperweaves are yarn dyed prior to weaving, which means less variance in color. Expert lamination at our mill in Japan and a rigorous inspection process ensure ease of installation and exceptional durability. With almost 400 options in a wide array of designs in stock at our New Jersey warehouse, many of our seamless wallcoverings are ready to ship same day.
The art of paper weaving began centuries ago in Japan. This ancient craft is still practiced today by artisans throughout the world.
Paper weaving, a centuries-old Japanese tradition, makes the ideal match for anyone who aspires for the look of a natural wallcovering without the paneling that often accompanies it. This proves true in Ferguson and Mikita’s open-layout apartment as the natural textured wallcovering flows from one room to the next in seamless—and timeless—fashion.

A LONG-TIME CLIENT OF PHILIP JEFFRIES
When the couple found out Ferguson’s long-running ABC show, Modern Family, was ending after 11 seasons, they invested in a home in New York, as he’d no longer be tied to Los Angeles for filming. They sold their Los Feliz home, a sprawling four-bedroom Spanish Colonial, which also featured Phillip Jeffries wallcovering.
For a layered and textured look in the dining room below, Jesse's designer choose Studs and Stripes to wrap the dining room. This specialty wallcovering collection adds style and energy to the walls with a square nail head look that can be hung vertically or horizontally.
