PJ Employee Volunteer Event: Bowling With The Special Olympics

Written by Phillip Jeffries | Feb 7, 2023 1:48:48 PM

Last weekend, members of the PJ Cares Team and their families volunteered for a Special Olympics bowling event at T-Bowl Lanes. Volunteers were assigned different tasks to help run the event which helped determine which athletes moved on to the State Games.

Last year, the 2022 NJ Olympic Team (shown above) competed at the USA Games in Orlando! Every event leads up to this. It's a big deal for all involved, but especially for the athletes who have been training all year for this!

Sandi McGeogh, Vice President of Talent at Phillip Jeffries, (pictured above) has a special place in her heart for the Special Olympics.

"I was first introduced to Special Olympics more than 30 years ago by my dad," said Sandi.  "A long-time volunteer, he brought my brother and I as well as my mom, a special needs educator, to several events around NJ. It is by far one of the most fulfilling and humbling experiences to be a part of, and I am grateful to my parents for exposing me to the organization at such a young age."

From escorting athletes to their lanes, keeping score, announcing winners to actually handing out their medals, our volunteers were able to make a huge difference in the day. The biggest assignment of all was cheering on the athletes!

Thank you to all who worked this event.
