Inside The Spa Where Rodrigo Vargas Created An Award-Winning Design

Bursting with design inspiration and aura-inducing crystals, Awana Spa & Wellness is a hidden gem nestled within the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas casinos. Located inside the enormous and luxurious Resorts World Las Vegas is this gorgeous oasis that offers personalized treatments, immersive facilities, and wellness offerings. But it's turning heads for the stellar design.

In July, Awana Spa & Wellness was awarded a prestigious global award for design at The International Hotel & Property Awards Ceremony where Design Et Al, a leading UK interior design magazine, announced Awana the Spa/Spa Hotel 2022 Winner! Forbes Travel Guide has also named Awana Las Vegas' Best New Spa and many other US magazines have featured this stunning space as a must-see destination. 

Let's take a look at this incredible, award-winning project designed by Rodrigo Vargas and featuring Phillip Jeffries metallic leaf wallcovering.

Rodrigo Vargas, principal of Rodrigo Vargas Design, created an environment of serenity that stands apart from the greater hotel and casino. This jewel box oasis allows visitors to escape, transform, and emerge renewed. The Awana Spa philosophy draws upon the principles of the golden ratio with rounded rooms, curved walls and height throughout, and promotes a transformative and holistic experience. Key to the design are the meandering, curvilinear corridors, lit with a constellation of lights, that create privacy and a sense of discovery. See the full tour here.

The modern-yet-warm space features soft gold accents and a multitude of twinkling lights. Central to the design is the luxurious Phillip Jeffries Metallic Ombré wallcovering that wraps the curved walls in glamour and quiet sophistication. The ombré motif ebbs and flows creating a one-of-a-kind pattern. The sequencing of the panels during installation enables each designer to create a unique interpretation in a space.

With more shades of metallic added, this specialty wallcovering showcases the Japanese art of metallic leafing with aged-to-perfection appeal. An array of handwoven textiles are leafed by artisans to create a uniquely luxe design. Handcrafted by artisans, the grounds are carefully prepared and cured to become the perfect palette for leafing. Once leafed, coatings are applied to ensure the wallcoverings withstand the test of time. Authentic leafing is backed and coated to ensure our wallcoverings are as durable and flexible as they are beautiful. Sealed with a resin finish, all styles are wipeable and resistant to rusting and oxidizing.
