This is one of the most popular topics here at Phillip Jeffries. Shading (or paneling) is part of the inherent beauty of a natural wallcovering and something we celebrate. It's what really makes our natural grasscloth wallcovering special.
Our artisanal, handcrafted grasscloths are unique and luxurious. When the shading expectations are set by the installer for PANELS, SEAMS, and slight VARIATION, you will have a happy client! We recommend always saying this upfront. If you have more particular clients, we're going to give you the tips and tricks to minimize shading. #1 Tip: Even-sized panels help balance your shading.
PJ STEPS TO SUCCESS
Follow these steps when installing a natural grasscloth wallcovering and you are sure to have a happy client.
- Evaluate the room & prep
- Find the center of each wall - mix different shades (light & dark) and get a good balance to a wall. Don't start in a corner
- Shade the bolts BEFORE you paste anything - mixing the shades will give it some difference between panels, which is key. Remember: You want that consistent Inconsistency!
