The penthouse apartment in the fictional Arconia is wrapped in Phillip Jeffries Vinyl Gilded Age, Grandstand Gold 7454.
Television and film directors have always understood the power visuals to tell a story, and this is especially evident in Season 3 of the critically acclaimed comedy series. Only Murders in the Building. on Hulu.
Patrick Howe, the brilliant production designer behind the show, is the mastermind responsible for bringing the exquisitely detailed and intricately decorated apartments of "the Building," also known as the Arconia, to life. It is within this New York residence that Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), and Oliver Putnam (Martin Short, an Emmy nominee for 2023) have been unraveling murder mysteries for the past three seasons.
Inside "The Building"
The Arconia's penthouse apartment, previously occupied by Sting in season one and Amy Schumer in season two, now finds itself in the hands of Ben Glenroy (played by the talented Paul Rudd), a renowned Hollywood actor who stars in Oliver's Broadway play. However, tragedy strikes on opening night when Glenroy is discovered dead in the elevator shaft.
The Set Design
The apartment becomes a shrine dedicated to the late actor himself. To bring the vision of a Ben Glenroy-inspired Hard Rock Cafe-inspired space to life, the production designer collaborates with decorator Rich Murray. Together, they ensure that every nook and cranny is filled with a homage to CoBro. (Read more about each room over at Vanity Fair.)
The true centerpiece of the apartment's aesthetic is the magnificent gilded wallcovering that old Hollywood vibe. Phillip Jeffries Vinyl Gilded Age in Grandstand Gold, 7454, is the perfect wallcovering for a penthouse of a celebrity.
