The new summer collection, Japonaise, is all about beautiful designs that will instill a sense of calm and serenity.
The luxurious and painterly designed digital mural wallcovering shown above, Prosper, is inspired by the soaring bamboo forests found in Japan. And also forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, when you go into the forest to meditate and take it all in. This wallcovering will inspire moments of Zen in any space. Learn more about Prosper here.
"As you know, we love to tell stories at PJ and we love to travel," says Philip Bershad, President of Phillip Jeffries during the global launch presentation today.
"This season, our story was inspired by travels to Japan and its modern and traditional design and culture. It’s a part of our roots and infused in who we are as a company. We have been working with some of these mills and artisans in Japan for more than 40 years. Some of these mills have been doing these crafts for literally hundreds of years," he continues. "Jeffrey and I have many memories of traveling to Japan with our father Eric. We sourcing from different suppliers, meeting artisans, and building multi-generational relationships with our Japanese partners."
Japan is teaming with innovative cuisine, eclectic vintage stores and antiques--as well as modern decor inspiration. Every time someone from Phillip Jeffries visits Japan, it leaves them feeling refreshed, inspired, and sublimely zen. This was our Design team’s inspiration for our SUMMER 2022 collection, JAPONAISE.

Design Director Tara Van Lunen shares how her travels to Japan influenced her team as well as the design style, Japandi. "We’re inspired by the fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian styles," says Tara. "These interiors focus on sustainable materials and minimalistic designs."
For Tara, this collection spans a decade of traveling to Japan and collecting design inspiration.
"It was almost 10 years ago that I took my first trip to Japan with Jeffrey," says Tara. "We traveled to Kyoto, Tokyo, Osaka... all these wonderful places in Japan. Each region has a uniqueness. I have so many memories from each trip from visiting kimono creators and family-owned mills to stunning rock gardens and sacred temples. What I loved most about it was being able to visit the mills and meet the artisans. And to truly discover their passion, or as we call it Otaku."
It’s that attention to detail, that respect for life and nature that inspired us to create this collection. We invite you to simply take it all in and experience our Summer 2022 Collection JAPONAISE.
