Let's Take A Field Trip To Phillip Jeffries!

An insider look at a 'day in the life' of PJ with local students.

Let's Take A Field Trip To Phillip Jeffries!
The Boys and Girls Club of Clifton, NJ, provides programs that enable young people to realize their full potential as caring citizens.

Summer field trips are a great learning opportunity for students which is something we are passionate about at Phillip Jeffries. This summer, we were thrilled to host more than 30 middle schoolers from the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton, NJ  for a fun-filled, informative day at our headquarters (again!). What's it like to Visit Phillip Jeffries? After our signature "red carpet" welcome, the Think Big campers enjoyed learning about the manufacturing process which included meeting designers, viewing state-of-the-art printers, and the shipping process.  Then PJ team members showed the kids hand-woven fabric from Madagascar and more natural textiles.

We like to get the kids involved so next they enjoyed a hands-on activity learning painting techniques with oil pastels and watercolor. "Teaching an art lesson to the students from the Boys and Girls club was an inspiring, reviving experience," said J Carpenter, a designer at Phillip Jeffries.

We asked the students to draw images of “home,” however they perceive home.

The students created everything from images of their houses and buildings, to fields and courts where they play sports...

to restaurants where they hang out, to lakes and beaches where they swim, to a cup of tea that a student’s parent makes them when they feel sick.

We love the creative energy that the students brought to PJ.

Thanks to Kaitlin Lopez, one of the team leaders for our PJ Cares initiative, the day spent with the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton, NJ, was a fantastic opportunity for our employees and a true testament to the incredible potential that lies within each and every child.

"My favorite part of organizing an event like Think Big for Kids is witnessing the transformation in the children from their arrival to departure,"said Kaitlin. "Many come in shy or disinterested, but they leave with new perspectives. Some discover newfound confidence in their creative abilities, others gain insight into the career opportunities a company like Phillip Jeffries can offer, and some just have a great day. Seeing these kids smile makes it all worthwhile!"

We are grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of their creative journey and look forward to continuing our support through PJ Cares, our employee-led group dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those around us. Through initiatives like this, we aim to inspire and empower the next generation of artists, designers, and leaders.

At Phillip Jeffries, we believe in the power of giving back to our community.
