Andrea Zappone invites us into her home this holiday season.
How do you make your house sparkle for holiday parties and family get-togethers? Interior designer Andrea Zappone and founder of Andrea Zappone Design has the answer to creating a glamourous holiday scene: Start with Phillip Jeffries wallcovering.
A Maximalist Holiday
Andrea’s philosophy for holiday decorating is decidedly maximalist. “The holidays are special to me because they give me the opportunity to GO BIG with my design,” said Andrea. “We host a dinner party every Christmas Eve where we ask our guests to really dress up and go all out. So, I need the backdrop to align with the fashion!”
The Entry
Andrea transformed her entryway into an elegant and glittering winter wonderland with a Christmas tree design that grows every year.
“Every year, much to my husbands’ chagrin, I add another tree… or two,” Andrea said. She covers her entryway with a dozen flocked Christmas trees of all sizes against a background of Phillip Jeffries’ Marfa Weave, a seamless paper weave wallcovering with a chic diamond design (and her favorite Phillip Jeffries wallcovering!).
“The texture of the Marfa Weave wallcovering is the perfect backdrop for my wintery scene!” said Andrea.
The Living Room
In her living room, Phillip Jeffries’ Driftwood wallcovering is used to highlight the room’s two focal points: her family’s Christmas Tree and her show-stealing floral and pine mantel piece installed over her fireplace by local farm owner and friend at Goode Farm.
Wallcovering as Gift Wrapping
Under her Christmas tree and next to the fireplace, Andrea found an extra special way to use her extra yardage of Phillip Jeffries’ Vinyl All Wound Up and Glam Grass wallcoverings: gift wrapping!
“I ordered some vintage ribbon and made the most beautiful faux gift installation under my tree,” she said. “The textured wallcovering mixed with the delicate ribbon is such a pretty addition to my tree installation.”
Andrea's Tips For Wallcovering That Wows
A self-described wallcovering fanatic, Andrea is always looking for new ways to use wallcovering. Her favorite use of Phillip Jeffries wallcovering to date was using grasscloth wallcovering in a client’s home. “We used a blush pink grasscloth within her coffered ceiling in her dining room. My GOD what a statement! It is stunning and so unexpected,” she said.
Andrea is no stranger to using Phillip Jeffries in unexpected places. “I also love to use PJ in smaller spaces - lining the backs of bookcases, within art niches, I’ve even installed it on a crib before.”
