Designer Series: Creating Subtle Luxury with HW Interiors

Florida‑based designer Heather Weisz, principal of HW Interiors, infuses every project with a clean, contemporary sensibility shaped by her global travels. Years spent journeying internationally with her Argentinian, professional‑polo‑playing husband have honed her eye for understated elegance and worldly detail. Tour some of her tailored looks!

Welcome to PJ’s Designer Series, where we spotlight standout designer talent and the compelling narratives behind their most memorable interiors. HW Interiors embraces a confident vision: bold yet inviting palettes, layered textures, sculptural accents, and a strong point of view that evolves with each client while staying true to the firm’s elevated ethos. Whether it's their signature turnkey approach or Heather’s talent for merging her vision with a client’s lifestyle, the result is always a space that feels both artful and deeply personal.

The Rivets obsession that began it all
HW Interiors began in 2015 when good friends Lisa Hynes and Heather Weisz began collaborating on Lisa’s own new construction project. They soon realized they were fantastic collaborators and incorporated as a design firm soon after. Lisa runs operations and Heather leads the design side. Today, that partnership and design ethos translates into a signature style of subtle, livable luxury for clients throughout the West Palm Beach area—widely known as the "winter equestrian capital of the world."

Heather still remembers the very first time she used Phillip Jeffries on an HW Interiors project ten years ago. She chose the Rivet's collection, Studs and Stripes, in silver to wrap a fireplace feature wall for a client's gut renovation. The wallcovering gave the house new life. That project sparked a love affair with the entire Rivets collection which still continues to this day! She recently used the It's  Riveting Collection in the guest bedroom above right to complement the marble used throughout the room. “It gives enough detail, but not too much. It’s enough to complement the stone and all of the details like triple stacked edges.”

Artisanally handcrafted wallcoverings are a big part of Heather’s design philosophy. She loves embracing imperfections found in handmade and natural materials. They're what make a space unique.

Why wallcovering doesn’t have to be bold to be transformative
Heather's clients may be hesitant at first to use wallcovering, but then they are blown away by the transformative power they have. “If you do something special with wallcovering, it immediately feels finished," she said. “It makes it feel warm and complete, even if it’s a really subtle color.”

She also recommends Phillip Jeffries’s Vinyl collections for anyone with kids when decorating family spaces , especially for little boy’s rooms. The texture and durability of our performance collections are unmatched. “Clients often won't believe it’s vinyl until they touch it because Phillip Jeffries does vinyl so well,” she said. “We explain the value to our clients and that it’s going to make life so much easier because it’s washable and wipeable, and they’re completely shocked.”

Using wallcovering to create an objet d’art
Her travels through Central and South America cemented her love for all lovingly handcrafted but imperfect design elements. “To me, that’s the beauty of it. It tells the story of the hands that made it.” Grasscloth wallcoverings exude the naturally imperfect style that she adores. “Even at first glance, the room looks magnificent. When you start to meander through the space, you see elements that are natural, layered, and textured. Really staying true to the human side of things.”

While on a project, Heather and Lisa discovered a way to combine their love of books with wallcoverings and used all their leftover grasscloth to cover books. It was a winning strategy to use the leftover wallcovering (which they had always felt sad about having to throw away the extra scraps at the end of a project) to make new, beautiful displays for their clients. “We had these great neutral, beautiful grassclothes,” said Heather. “The covered books looked so beautiful on the bookshelves, and we were upcycling the leftovers!”

Elevating the bedrooms with wallcovering
Heather’s favorite room for wallcovering is the bedroom, and in particular, secondary bedrooms because of their power to give the room personality and warmth without need clients to invest in extra decoration.

After the primary bedroom is complete, a client's budget for art and decor may already be stretched thin. Instead of art, Heather recommends using wallcovering to create a luxurious and inviting space. “Wallcovering makes the room feel finished so when guests come, they feel like they’re in a beautifully completed space.”

Heather loves that Phillip Jeffries has something for everyone and has always loved the organic details of the grasscloth. Recently, the digital mural collection has been her go to. Her current obsession is Fade because of its moody, watercolor-like hues that “make the space, wherever it is.” Heather used Fade in a recent project in Miami to decorate the basement and give it a “speakeasy vibe” that complements the green bar and cabinetry in the space.

The Avon wallcovering also came in handy recently when turning a client’s golf simulator space that his wife dreaded into a statement moment. “We created this cabinet with large door panels, and we took the mural Avon and we inlaid it so it was wallcovering, but on a furniture piece.  The Avon wallcovering turned what the client was fearing and turned it into a work of art that she loved.”
