Few designers balance refinement and warmth quite like Marie Flanigan. Known for traditional interiors that feel layered, personal, and timeless, the Houston-based designer approaches every project through the lens of craftsmanship and storytelling.

"Wallcovering isn't just a background finish anymore, but it's an essential design element," said Marie. We caught up with Marie to explore Enchanted Garden, our Summer collection, and learn what she's loving this season.

Design Philosophy
"What I love most about this collection is its refinement paired with raw organic beauty," said Marie. "Each piece has such incredible texture from woven to embroidery to a soft plaster strié, silk, and even different wood veneers."

That philosophy is reflected in her Summer Collection favorites. Marie selected Heirloom Bloom, Charmed, Promenade, Manor House, Pawleys Parquet, Wellington Weave, and All Wound Up. While each offers its own distinct point of view, they share the qualities she values most: authentic texture, timeless character, and the ability to bring depth and personality to a space.

"My design  philosophy is really rooted in layered, warm, authentic, and timeless interiors," said Marie. "I always want a space to feel elevated, but deeply livable."

Design Inspiration
For Marie, wallcovering does more than complete a room. It creates atmosphere. It introduces layers that make a home feel collected, inviting, and uniquely its own. Whether through the subtle movement of a weave, the artistry of a botanical pattern, or the handcrafted appeal of natural materials, she gravitates toward designs that add visual interest while remaining enduringly elegant.

"I begin every project by dissecting and deciding what is the story we are trying to tell in this home," said Marie. "And every layer helps to tell the story of the people who live there."

Her love of Phillip Jeffries extends beyond the projects she creates for clients. In her own Coral Gables home, Marie selected Phillip Jeffries Japanese Paper Weave to line the living room bookcases, adding warmth, texture, and dimension to the space. It's a testament to the power of wallcovering and a reflection of her belief that the most beautiful interiors are rich in detail and deeply personal.

A Design Leader
"Phillip Jeffries has always resonated with my firm because of their sophistication and depth of material, exceptional understanding of texture, and also their incredible color palette," said Marie. "I love that they offer both dramatic statement wallcoverings alongside beautiful foundational textures that have really become a go-to for each of my designers."

As a designer celebrated for creating homes with soul, Marie's summer edit  is an invitation to embrace texture, tell a story, and surround yourself with materials that feel as beautiful as they look.

"The collection feels innovative and cohesive," said Marie. "Yet every design has the versatility to be used in so many different ways."
