Inside Actress Rachel Bay Jones' Vintage-Inspired Dressing Room

Designer Jeff Andrews transforms the space with Phillip Jeffries Tea Time Collection.

Inside Actress Rachel Bay Jones' Vintage-Inspired Dressing Room
On a working Hollywood studio lot, days are usually fast-paced and spaces are often utilitarian so creating a sense of escape is no small accomplishment. For Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award-winning actress Rachel Bay Jones, her on-set dressing room is cozy, sophisticated, and wrapped in wallcovering.

Los Angeles–based interior designer Jeff Andrews transformed the private dressing room from a compact, windowless room on the Warner Brothers Studios lot into a layered retreat that feels personal and stylish. Drawing from the actress' vintage inspiration, Andrews brought the space to life with wallcovering from Phillip Jeffries Tea Time collection.

A Restful Escape, Reimagined
Andrews approached the project with a clear intention: to create a moment of pause within a high-demand creative environment. “The whole purpose of this on-set dressing room is a restful escape from a high-demand creative environment,” he told Rue Magazine. “Layers of details come together in this room, so that when you open the door, you forget that you’re on a sound stage.” Phillip Jeffries wallcovering became the starting point with the print collection, Tea Time.

A Shared Love of Vintage
The design inspiration evolved from a mutual appreciation for history and vintage detail. Bay Jones collected 1920s dress renderings, which became a defining feature of the room. Framed and arranged as a gallery wall, the illustrations bring an element of fashion to the space. Andrews told Rue Magazine, the drawings felt inherently aligned with the purpose of a dressing room, evoking costumes, character, and performance. The layered interior feels at once backstage and deeply personal, like an old Hollywood jewel box reimagined for today.

Designed for the Actor’s Life
For Bay Jones, the transformation was as much about feeling as it was about aesthetics. Long days on set called for a space that could function as a true retreat. While Bay Jones is widely recognized for her award-winning performance in Dear Evan Hansen. she's currently filming CBS’s Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage. “We spend more time on that lot than at home sometimes,” she shared in Rue Magazine. “I dreamed that Jeff could make my dark, windowless dressing room feel like a sunroom, and infuse it with his signature glamour.”

The finished space delivers on that vision. Bright yet grounded, cheerful yet elegant, the room reflects both the actress’s personality and her aspirations. “My room is so bright, cheerful and warm, but also has an elegance that makes me feel far more glamorous than I am,” she says.
