Designer Series: The Coastal Comfort Of Megan Gorelick Interiors

Welcome to PJ's new Designer Series where we spotlight standout designer projects and incredible stories. Each feature delves into the creative process and inspiration behind these remarkable designs.  A mix of whimsy and practicality, Megan Gorelick Interiors has us dreaming of seaside summer getaways.

Designer and principal Megan Gorelick began her design career in 2008 with a deeply personal project—her own home. What started as a singular vision soon evolved into a signature style and established her as one of the most sought-after designers along the East Coast. With family at the heart of the business, Megan continues to shape coastal living with passion and fun.

We caught up with Megan and her daughter Bailey to learn what inspires them, why this fail-proof
palm print wallcovering works in every colorway, and how a showhouse project went viral on TikTok with more than 1 MILLION likes.

Coastal Comfort
From the picturesque beach towns of Avalon and Stone Harbor on the Jersey Shore to the sun-drenched coasts of Florida and the serene shores of Maine, Megan brings her signature style to life for clients. Each project reflects a refined color palette, natural textures, and livable luxury. With offices in Montchanin, DE, and Stone Harbor, NJ, principal designer Megan now works alongside her three daughters—Bailey, Lilly, and Bryn—bringing a multigenerational touch to her signature coastal style.

Boutique Bathrooms
A favorite room to infuse with personality and wallcovering, the bathroom often sets the tone of a space. And since beach homes tend to have far more bathrooms than a standard house—to accommodate large family gatherings—Megan loves to give each suite its own personality. She often designs them with a boutique hotel in mind.  For a Sex & The City-inspired powder room, Megan installed The Grove in Palm Paradise creating a glamorous jewel box space. The earthiness of the natural wood veneer complements the sleek lighting and stone vanity.

A Family Affair
Megan has collaborated time and again with Philip Jeffries, calling Phillip and Jeffrey Bershad (who also know a little something about running a family business) mentors in the design world. “Philip Jeffries was extremely instrumental in getting us off the ground and recognizing what we needed.”

Megan's All-Time Favorite Palm Wallcovering
Palm motifs have long been a staple in coastal interiors, evoking a sense of breezy elegance and tropical ease. Whether rendered in soft neutrals or bold greens, they bring a natural rhythm to a space that feels timeless and sophisticated. “We really lean on PJ for the color customizing,” utilizing PJ Mash Up, Megan says. Our custom program allows designers to choose from a variety of printing grounds and colors. One of Megan’s favorite interpretations of this motif is Jack’s Jungle, a Monstera Deliciosa print she reaches for time and time again, taking advantage of its versatility in all of the colorways and custom options. “It personalizes the room and no one even knows it’s on vinyl!”

Use This Wallcovering As An Update For Shiplap
For a poolside family room, Megan wanted to create a relaxed feel. Instead of shiplap, which felt too expected, she went with the bold natural St. Bart’s Serenity to give the room instant warmth. Crated into a large scale chevron pattern, the natural texture of the water hyacinth has a coastal feeling with modern style. “The family was over the moon! They loved it, it’s where all the kids hang out and is just so cozy.”

Chic Bunk Beds
Bunk rooms have become a beloved staple in weekend homes, offering both charm and functionality for families and guests. In one dreamy confection of a bunk room—designed with plenty of space for sister and cousin bonding—Megan chose a worry-free vinyl wallcovering that could stand up to fingerprints and pillow fights. “We loved the fun pattern!,” Megan says, of Vinyl Woven Sisal in Natural Blush, which brings a hint of girly glam in pink. For a nod to the natural seaside environment, Megan also loves using Cerulean View, a beautiful soft blue to echo a coastal palette.

From Design Mavens to TikTok Stars
One part of the business that this mother-daughters duo never planned was going viral online. They credit a charity project in the Spring of 2024 with the new-found stardom. “We did a Kip’s Bay show house last year and someone posted it. It got a million views! So now we post a reveal to the client and video tours.” The photo below of Megan with her daughters was taken in the bathroom they designed for the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Palm Beach. With a tub filled with feathers and flowers, it catapulted their social media presence. Followers love their behind-the-scenes content, design walkthroughs, and signature outfit coordination—always styled to match the vibe of the home and often selling out online.
