After a year long renovation, this 1935 Colonial Revival was dressed to the nines
“Every day there is a moment where I pinch myself," said Jenn Feldman, an LA-based interior designer. “I still can't believe this is my family home!”
The stunning, 4-bedroom property in West Los Angeles underwent a year-long transformation to bring new life to this historical gem. Jenn collaborated with architect Scott Alan Joyce to restore and update the 1935 Colonial Revival home including this stunning dining room makeover.
BEFORE
Old Home Charm
First, Jenn tackled the flow and function of the space. In addition to updating electrical, she raised heights of hallways and reconfigured rooms to suite her family’s modern lifestyle. A master woodworker transformed a built-in cabinet in the dining room. He crafted a door with hidden hinges and matched the paneling exactly to the original wainscoting. This also allowed the wallcovering to seamlessly extend along the wall.
“For me, the space started with this wallpaper,” said Jenn.
A Custom Mural
Haven is offered in a multitude of colorations digitally printed on natural and vinyl grounds. Jenn created her own custom wallcovering using Phillip Jeffries PJ Mash Up® program. “We did several strike offs to get the right combination of the base texture with this large-scale pattern,” she said. “I could not be more thrilled and prouder of the end result!”
“I loved that Haven was a large-scale mural with a European influence and timeless design,” said Jenn.
AFTER
The rich and moody color palette of black, cream, chestnut and gold sets the tone for the entire home. While blending contemporary and antique pieces, Jenn refers to her style as a unique combination of Midwestern charm and California cool.
“I always say the Dining Room is like your best outfit - you don't wear it all the time but when you do, there's no better feeling than having a space that is dressed and ready to entertain with family and friends.” said Jenn. “Haven was my black tie ‘dress’ for my home.”

A Warm Primary Suite
Earth-toned textile wallcoverings add warmth and texture to your walls. Jenn chose a textile wallcovering for her primary suite. Phillip Jeffries Sunwashed Linen in Rustic Rust was the perfect pairing for a relaxing retreat. She layered boucle fabrics, linen window treatments, antique rugs, and a mixture of modern and antique decor.

Curating The Bedroom Wallcovering
Designing several bedrooms for her family meant channeling different personalities and incorporating each's unique needs. Both rooms below are wrapped in seamless wallcovering for a warm and inviting style. Layering neutral colors in rich, soft textiles creates a luxurious monochromatic look.
