Justin Van Breda At PJ London Showroom

Designer Justin Van Breda with one of his custom creations in Phillip Jeffries London Showroom, Suite 219.

This summer, Phillip Jeffries London showroom moved into a new, larger space in the Design Center Chelsea Harbour on the second floor of the North Dome, just across the way from the former showroom. It's the perfect place for designers to shop, sample, and meet the PJ team and it was the perfect opportunity to refresh the showroom's design.

We were thrilled to collaborate with UK interior designer Justin Van Breda on a few bespoke furniture pieces
wrapped in Phillip Jeffries wallcovering. Combining function with beautiful design, these pieces transform wallcoverings into 3D showpieces that highlight the versatility of our collections. The console table above is wrapped in Silk and Abaca wallcovering in a gorgeous neutral color way called Porcelain Palace, 3216.

Let's Go Behind the Design with Justin Van Breda
We were lucky enough to catch up with Justin and chat about his designs. Here, he shares a few tips:

What was your vision/inspiration for the furniture pieces?

Justin: In designing the pieces we wanted to show off the intrinsic beauty and characteristics of the Philip Jeffreys’ product, so we worked on very linear, monolithic designs that have a versatile post modern, clean and contemporary feel.

What's the most difficult part of wrapping furniture with wallcovering?
Justin: Having applied your materials to a number of custom pieces over the years, we now consider ourselves pretty expert. We have been wrapping pieces in PJ for the last 8/9 years and we know that the more complicated the shape, the more difficult the application. The most important elements to focus on are corners, wrapping and finishing.

What inspires you when choosing wallcovering?
Justin: Wrapping our pieces in your product makes every design feel bespoke and unique, and with the enormous range available you can always create a completely new piece every time.

Inside Justin's Workshop
The exquisite artistry displayed in Justin's pieces is unparalleled. Below, you can see another modern console table for the London showroom that is wrapped in Phillip Jeffries textile wallcovering,

More Bespoke Furniture Using Phillip Jeffries Wallcovering
Justin wrapped this Nicholas Cabinet in Phillip Jeffries Blossom wallcovering for designer Tanya Thompson. The blue colorway, 6400 is printed on a gorgeous grasscloth wallcovering, Marshmallow Manila Hemp.

Designer Kathleen Walsh commission this table with the wood plinth and chose a PJ wallcovering. Justin posted on Instagram and said: "It just does all the right things with her other design elements and colours. And the detail on the top is a bit of a triumph. Great workshops and great design make magic here."
