Textured wallcoverings, luxe plaids and plenty of holiday vibes at this Park City resort.
Lindsay Lohan has returned to the spotlight in her new rom-com, Falling for Christmas, out now on Netflix.
The premise of the show is that Lohan, a spoiled heiress, loses her memory in a skiing accident and lands in the cozy care of a down-on-his-luck widower and his daughter at Christmastime.
The set location may feel like a small-town environment, but the actual ski resort is a dreamy property in Park City, Utah. The real name of the resort is the Goldener Hirsch Luxury Hotel. This family-owned property is also the #1 Ski Boutique Hotel in the United States. You can read more about the design in this House Beautiful story.
Now, let's explore the European-style ski chalet with modern mountain residences in Deer Valley featuring Phillip Jeffries Wallcoverings in the guest rooms and lounge areas.
The real star of the show are the Phillip Jeffries wallcoverings that make this mountainside getaway magical on and off-screen.
KC Golightly of Design Concierge in Las Vegas, remembers the day very well when Todd Avery Lenahan, formerly principal of TAL Studio which has now merged with Wynn Resorts where he is president and chief creative officer, called him to bring samples for the project.
"It’s super modern, but clean lines and very edgey," KC says of the resort. "In the movie, you can see the pool at the very top of the resort. And it’s an all glass façade that faces the pool."
PJ's Plaid Wallcovering
The well-appointed guest rooms feature Phillip Jeffries plaid wallcovering, Savile Suiting Plaid. This textile wallcovering is perfect for spaces that you want to feel cozy from lounges and lodges to man caves, and bedrooms. Shown below is a luxury residence at the Goldener Hirsch with the walls wrapped in PJ's Savile Suiting Plaid, 4472.
"They [TAL Studio] wanted modern, but something lodge-y feel," says KC. "Because it’s still Park City, but super high-end. The Savile Suiting just works perfectly for this. You would think all of Utah would have it!"
Savile Suiting in plaid is a felted and woven wool wallcovering that is available in plain, plaid, and pinstripe patterns. Want to see more textile options? On our website, you can browse the widest selection available from fine linens to chunky knits, woolen tweeds, and suedes for classic to contemporary wallcovering styles. PJ's Faux Horsehair Wallcovering
In the film, you'll see PJ's natural wallcovering around the mantle. This is a popular wallcovering for dining rooms and in high traffic areas like vestibules. For gorgeous paneling and multi-tonal textured wallcoverings, the authentic abaca and poly materials are woven to create the look and feel of real horsehair.
"It gives the warm feeling and has a nice sparkle," says KC. "But it's more durable."
“Really all I can say is that we were looking for quality, colors, and excellence of product and Phillip Jeffries delivered,” said Robyn Ruggles, former designer at TAL Studio.
And if you'd like to see the resort in person, book your stay here. Or recreate Netflix's Falling For Christmas vibe in your home with one of Phillip Jeffries textile, suiting or plaid wallcoverings.
