Every room begins with an idea. Discover how five leading designers translated inspiration into immersive interiors, from atmospheric baths and luminous entertaining spaces to richly layered retreats.
For decades, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House has offered a glimpse into the ideas, craftsmanship, and creativity shaping the future of interior design. For the 2026 show house, we were honored to partner with a remarkable group of designers who transformed a historic Manhattan townhouse into a collection of immersive, highly personal spaces.
Atelier CV: The Luminary
Founded by Christine Zeqiri and Valerie Goldin-Remm, Atelier CV creates environments that are emotionally driven, immersive, and highly experiential. The studio is known for crafting interiors that evoke a sense of atmosphere through thoughtful materiality and storytelling.
Inspired by celestial light and cosmic wonder, The Luminary transforms a lower-level bar into a luminous escape. Phillip Jeffries Metallic Ombre in Pewter on Silk and Abaca wraps the walls while Metallic All Over extends the effect overhead. Together, the wallcoverings capture and diffuse light throughout the room, creating movement, shimmer, and an ethereal glow that supports the designer's otherworldly vision.
Vanessa Deleon Associates: Immersion
Known for creating sophisticated interiors that balance luxury with livability, Vanessa Deleon approaches design with a focus on how a space feels as much as how it looks. Her work often layers striking materials with thoughtful functionality, creating environments that are both visually impactful and deeply personal.
For Immersion, Vanessa transformed the primary bath into an urban sanctuary designed to encourage slowing down and reconnecting with the senses. Dramatic stone surfaces establish the architectural framework, while Phillip Jeffries Pawleys Parquet in Salted and Storm introduces warmth, texture, and a connection to nature. The wood veneer wallcovering softens the room's graphic contrasts, creating balance within a space dedicated to restoration and wellness.
John Ferguson Interiors: The New Connoisseur
New York-based designer John Ferguson is celebrated for interiors that feel collected, timeless, and deeply personal. His work balances historical references with modern livability, creating spaces that feel both sophisticated and inviting.
In The New Connoisseur, Ferguson reinterprets the legacy of David Hicks through a softer, more contemporary lens. A custom ceiling composition featuring Phillip Jeffries Abaca Harvest and Saint Germain Hemp adds architectural depth and subtle pattern above, reinforcing the room's layered approach to texture and craftsmanship. The result is a retreat that feels confident, warm, and enduring.
Robbins Architecture + Interiors: Kasumi (霞)
Led by Celeste Robbins, Robbins Architecture + Interiors is recognized for creating modern homes that feel deeply connected to nature, materiality, and place. Her work is rooted in craftsmanship and an enduring appreciation for how light shapes a space.
Named after the Japanese word for mist, Kasumi reimagines a windowless primary bath as an atmospheric retreat. Phillip Jeffries Chateau Linen in Classic Canvas and Handira Cloth in Kaftan Cream contribute softness and tactile richness throughout the design. Their understated textures support the room's exploration of light, shadow, and transparency while reinforcing a sense of calm and quiet discovery.
Wegner Fine Cabinetry: Midnight Snack
For more than three decades, Wegner Fine Cabinetry has been crafting bespoke cabinetry and millwork that combines precision craftsmanship with innovative design. Their work celebrates detail, functionality, and beautifully executed materials.
For their first Kips Bay Decorator Show House appearance, designer Christi Rogers created Midnight Snack, an imaginative kitchen and pantry experience inspired by after-hours entertaining. Within the transitional corridor connecting the wine room and stairwell, Phillip Jeffries Ribbon Washi introduces subtle texture and refinement. Quiet yet impactful, it contributes to the project's narrative of discovery, guiding visitors through a space designed to reveal itself gradually.
Great design is never about a single element. It is the thoughtful layering of architecture, furnishings, art, lighting, and materials that brings a space to life.
